A rain-curtailed, bad lights interrupted cricket match between hosts Sri Lanka and visitors Australia at Pallekele is into its final day. Australia need 185 more runs while Sri Lanka require 7 more scalps to grab a win in the series opener and take lead in this Test series. The match is quite evenly poised as both teams have equal chances of going 1-0 up in the series. Australia captain Steve Smith and Adam Voges are still at the crease. Smith is unbeaten at 26 in visitors’ score of 83/3. Both Rangana Herath and Lakshan Sandakanhave one wicket apiece so far in the second innings. Rangana Herath got the first breakthrough by bowling opener David Warner for one with the total on two. Warner was dismissed without scoring in the first innings. Bad weather could also prevent a result in the match with more than three sessions already lost in the match. Earlier, batsman Kusal Mendis made 176 to lift Sri Lanka from a precarious position to a more commanding one. Sri Lanka was trailing Australia by 86 runs in the first innings and slumped to 86-4 before Mendis turned the innings around.
